    Turner is a lifelong Utahn, raised on a cattle farm west of Ogden, Utah. Imbued with a love of service to his community by his parents' example, Turner has dedicated his adult life to working in the nonprofit sector.

    Driven by a deep sense of compassion and connection, Turner believes in the power of bringing people together to solve complex problems. He is a recognized leader and serves our community through volunteer service with nonprofit organizations as well as in appointed positions in local and state government.

    Turner aspires to live the values of hard work, inclusion, and innovation. Turner lives with his husband Chase and dogs, Charley and Moose, in the Glendale neighborhood of Salt Lake City.

    Rob is a writer, editor, cyclist, and Rose Park resident who recognizes that being informed about community issues is the first step in taking action to effect more positive outcomes.

    His writing and editing experience spans the academy, gaming, literary journals, outdoor ecommerce, brand marketing & consulting, and now journalism at The West View. He and his spouse keep a home near Rose Park Elementary with a cast of animals comprising a Siamese cat, a Holland lop rex rabbit, and a one-eyed cattle dog—all three of whom have far too many nicknames.

    Andy joined The West View staff in 2023. He and his partner moved into Rose Park in 2021, and quickly fell in love with living on the Westside. Originally from a small town in Northern California, Andy loves the diversity and sense of community so prevalent on the Westside. Andy has a background in journalism and marketing, working previously in TV news and in advertising for several educational companies. In his spare time, he’s trying out new gluten-free recipes, working on landscaping and gardening projects, taking pictures of anything and everything, and playing with his two beagle pups, Topher and Teddy.

    Jasmine is originally from Dallas, Texas, and moved to Salt Lake City with her mom when she was 13 years old. When Jasmine first moved to Salt Lake City, she lived in the Poplar Grove neighborhood with her mom and brothers. Jasmine attended West High school before going on to graduate from the University of Utah in 2017 with a BA in Communications and a minor in Political Science. Jasmine currently works for NeighborWorks Salt Lake as their Director of Community Initiatives and Marketing, where she helps keep communities connected and engaged.

    Heidi Steed is a lifelong resident of Salt Lake City’s westside, she grew up in the Westpointe Community and currently resides in the Rose Park Neighborhood with her sister Jessica and dog Franklin. Heidi attended West High School before going on to graduate from the University of Utah in 2011 with a BA in Political Science, she received her Masters in Public Administration from the University of Utah in 2019. Heidi currently works for the State of Utah’s Division of Archives, where she helps local governments manage access to public records.

  • Joseph Arrington

    Joseph is a healthcare professional, patented inventor, published scientist, serial entrepreneur, proven business leader, and human rights activist. He was honored as one of Utah Business' Forty Under 40 in 2023. He received a Bachelors of Science from the University of Utah majoring in Exercise and Sport Science and minoring in Pediatric Clinical Research, a Masters of Business Administration from Westminster College training in technology commercialization, and a Doctorate in Business Administration from Drexel University with a dissertation in improving innovation adoption in healthcare. He is currently pursuing further doctoral training at the University of Utah School of Medicine with the intention of becoming a physician-scientist. He is board eligible as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

    He uses medical, scientific, and business knowledge to improve both healthcare and nonprofit overall outcomes for patients and underserved peoples. He has worked in healthcare administration, in academic research, in biotech, with patients in the clinical setting, as a nurse’s assistant, as an entrepreneur, in personal fitness, and on several boards of directors.

    Melissa-Malcolm King is an author whose current projects include a monthly exhibition for Exponent 2 Magazine, a columnist for Innerversion Magazine, contributor and board member for the West View Media Newspaper eagerly supporting the West Side of Salt Lake in showcasing diversity, intersectionality, and the unique communities evolving there.

    Utah State Universities Department of Education Office of disabilities and inclusion provides Melissa the opportunity to showcase her motivational essays as a correspondent.

    Melissa is pleased to announce her most current publication, New World Coming: Frontline Voices on Pandemics, Uprisings, and Climate Crisis, is now available at Weller Book and other nationwide retail stores. Melissa-Malcolm's second anthology, "I Spoke to you with Silence”: Essays from Queer Mormons of Marginalized Genders is now available for sale statewide ,on Amazon.com and is in nationwide distribution as of September 2022.

    Melissa runs a nonprofit entitled Project B.E. S.A.F.E. - Bridging the Education of Safety, Awareness and Female Empowerment. Project B.E. S.A.F.E. Mission is two-fold; First, providing resources and an outlet for escape for women and gender minorities surviving domestic violence. Second, to empower women and other marginalized groups to climb out of despair and into a place of hope. Melissa’s other business pursuits include founding and leading a Natural Hair Care Social Media Group called, Curl Connection, and running a C.P.R., First Aid, and emergency preparedness business entitled Lifesaver Connection Services.

    As a survivor of abuse, Melissa has appeared on multiple panels for We Brave Women to advocate for survivor rights and discuss the intersection of being a Queer, Disabled, and Person of Color.

    Kim is a freelance documentary, editorial and reportage photographer with 15 years of experience based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

    She specializes in documentary photojournalism, seeing stories in her own backyard and capturing intimate portraits of the human experience. Her craft has drawn her into people's living rooms, pulled her onto mountain tops, witnessing life; from the Deep South to the American West.

    Kim graduated with a degree in photography from Rochester Institute of Technology. She went on to work as a staff photographer for newsrooms in Michigan, Utah and Virginia before becoming a freelancer. Currently she's a frequent contributor to The New York Times and The Washington Post and is member of Woman Photograph.

    Her documentary project "The Land of the Free", which follows the resurgence of a militia movement in Utah, was awarded a support grant from TheDocumentaryProjectFund.

    Her work has been featured and commissioned by ProPublica, PBS NewsHour, Bloomberg, Associated Press, NPR, NBC News, The Guardian US, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Stern, Getty Images, Newsweek, The Wall Street Journal, Runner's World, and others.

    Kim has been in Utah for over a decade and is a resident of Glendale. She can be seen frequently walking the streets of the west side with her 14-year-old mutt, Bug.

  • Edgar Zuniga

    Edgar grew up in Salt Lake City and is a two-time Emmy-Award winning freelance journalist. He just moved back home to Utah after more than a decade.

    Edgar worked for NBCUniversal for 11 years; five years at NBC News and six years at Telemundo, most recently as Telemundo Network’s New York Senior Producer. Edgar has recently reported for Argentina’s #1 news channel C5N and Informativos Teleantillas, a major news outlet in the Dominican Republic. He has been quoted and interviewed by more than a dozen Latin American outlets providing analysis on the U.S. presidential election.

    Born in New York City to Colombian immigrant parents, Edgar first moved to Utah at age 12. He attended Glendale and Bryant middle schools, West High School and graduated from the University of Utah in 2009. He began his journalism career as a writer for “The Daily Utah Chronicle” and as an intern at KSL-TV.

    Edgar is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and a recipient of the prestigious RIAS Berlin Kommission Fellowship in 2017. He is fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French; proficient in Italian and German. In his spare time, he loves to sing and play the piano.
